Alba Page

Alba Page is a cellist and pedagogue with a great motivation to continue growing and learning every day.

Pau Casals' vision of feeling music as a means to transmit and to help create a better world was the key that led her to choose the cello as her profession.

And for this she has been fortunate to train with exceptional teachers as musicians and as people who have helped and guided her from a very young age: Doña María de Macedo, Roel Dieltiens, Claudius Herrmann, Andreas Sami, Aldo Mata, Arnau Thomàs, Arantza López and Eulalia Subirà, among others.

Her experience in fields such as pedagogy (both in the early and upper stages), interpretation (as a soloist, orchestral musician, chamber music, etc.), the baroque cello (which she studied with her teacher Roel Dieltiens), the  flamenco (which for several years formed an important part of her life), and the development of life itself, is what has made it possible for this cellist from Cuenca to have a unique profile.

Alba, began her training in Cuenca, and continued it in Madrid, at the Higher Conservatory of Music in Salamanca and at the ZHDK (Hochschule der Kunste de Zürich) thanks to scholarships from the Community Board of Castilla La Mancha, the Ministry of Culture, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Lyra Stiftung (Switzerland).

She has received master classes from teachers such as Suzana Stefanovic, Charles Tunell, Ferenc Rados, Kennedy Moretti, Alberto Rosado, Damián Martínez, Ángel García Jermann, Philippe Müller, Lluis Claret, David Strange, Nicolas Corti, Mariam Häberli, Thomas Indermühle, Friedemann Rieger, among others.

She has played in orchestras such as the Zürich Opera Orchestra, the Collegium Musicum Basel, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, the Radio Televisión Symphony Orchestra (RTVE), the Extremadura Orchestra, the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE), Jugend Sinfonieorchester Zürich, Sinfonieorchester, Orchesterakademie and Barockorchester of the Hochschule Musik de Zürich with which she has played under the baton of conductors such as Karel Mark Chichon, Günther Herbig, Vasili Petrenko, Alan Gilbert, Philippe Jordan, Heinz Holliger, Edmond González Colomer , Andrea Licata, Joseph Pons, Nanse Gum, Lutz Köhler, Muhai Tang, Ralf Weikert, Jean-Claude Casadesus, among many others.

In 2008 she obtained the position of cello tutti at the Collegium Musicum Basel, where she also collaborated as a co-principal cello and soloist, under the direction of Simon Gaudenz and Kevin Griffiths until June 2015.

She has performed in various chamber music concerts with great musicians such as Roel Dieltiens, Claron Macfadden, Marc Destrubé, Wim ten Have, Jacques Ogg, Eriko Kagawa, Makiko Takeo, Fabienne Thönnen, Johan van Iersel, Sergio Marrero, Iván Martín and Eva Llorente, with whom she won the Young Interpreters contest of Castilla la Mancha in 2011.

As a soloist she has performed with orchestras such as the Difusión Ensemble (under the baton of Roberto Palmer) and the Orquesta del Real Conservatorio de Madrid.

She was introduced to the world of flamenco thanks to Juan Parrilla, having the opportunity to play in Europe, Canada and Mexico with Rafael Amargo, María Juncal or José Luis Montón and to share the stage with artists such as Manuel Molina, as well as to record for various programs. RTVE musicals.

Throughout her career she has performed in important venues such as the Zurich Opera, Tonhalle Zürich, Basel Stadt Casino, KKL Luzern, Konzertall Berlin, National Auditorium, Barcelona Auditorium, Madrid Monumental Theater, Canal Teatros, Zaragoza Auditorium, Palacio from Santander Festivals, numerous venues in Holland, Belgium and Mexico, the Cuenca Religious Music Festival, the Gent van Flanderen Festival, the Vancouver International Dance Festival, etc.

As a Violoncello teacher, she has taught at different Conservatories, Music Schools and Universities in Spain and Switzerland.

In 2015, the discovery of the Suzuki Method philosophy led her to devote herself to pedagogy, training year after year as a teacher of this method and of which she is already a level 5 (and last) teacher. Her teachers Arantza López and Eulalia Subirà have been a source of inspiration towards pedagogy and towards life. During her formative years, she has also been fortunate to receive classes from Carey Beth Hockett, Chantal Latil, Rubén Rivera, Tessa Oakley and Anja Maja.

Her concern to continue exploring the first stage of musical learning, has led her to train as a teacher of the Music Learning Theory of Edward Gordon, dedicated to getting babies from 0 years old to internalize music as a language that is part of them and of its tonal, rhythmic, psychomotor and intellectual growth.

Currently Alba Page is a regular reinforcement of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra and teacher at the Valleseco School of Music in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Together with Judith Verona, she embarks on a new adventure, collaborating as teachers of the Suzuki Method in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where they hope to be able to offer light to all the families who want to be part of the project.
